President and Mrs. Bush hosted a roundtable with recent Afghan evacuees to discuss their evacuation and resettlement experiences and the ongoing human rights crisis in Afghanistan. CNN’s Jake Tapper highlighted the Bush Institute’s continued work in support of Afghan evacuees during a segment dedicated to the Afghan Adjustment Act. This speaks to our role in elevating issues that might not otherwise be on the front page.
The Bush Institute co-hosted an event on the impact of violence against women in Central America with the Wilson Center early this summer. Conversations included how policies and programs can address the serious violations of agency and human rights perpetuated against women and girls in El Salvador, Honduras, and Guatemala.
