Dear john,
Back in 2008, I helped start the Operation Stonegarden Grant Program (OPSG) which provides funding to law enforcement agencies with the objective of enhancing border security. This funds allow local law enforcement to work in coordination with Border Patrol to carry out the necessary operations to secure our souther border.
Since the program started, I have secured over $142 million in total OPSG funding for Texas-28. This money is used to pay for overtime hours, fuel reimbursements, and new equipment and technology— resources that support our fight on drugs and human trafficking.
As a member of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Homeland Security, I continue to secure the necessary funding our local law enforcement agencies require to keep our South Texas communities safe and secure.
