Weapons of war do not belong on American streets. But for too long, assault weapons have been too accessible and too prevalent.

It is time for Congress to prioritize protecting our communities and pass a new assault weapons ban.

We must end the epidemic of gun violence that tears through our schools, grocery stores, concert halls, and houses of worship. Until we do, the American people cannot be safe.

Our children are being murdered, John, and we can’t allow it to stand.

Earlier this week, President Biden made it clear that he is determined to ban assault weapons in this country once again — a critical step toward ending gun violence.
