President Biden Signs the Inflation Reduction Act

On August 16, the U.S. took a big step toward economic growth and combatting climate change when President Biden signed the Inflation Reduction Act. The $370 billion package will accelerate deployment of renewable energy and energy efficiency, boost electric vehicle markets, and provide more vital support for Great Lakes coastal resilience. It provides $2 billion for the Rural Energy for America Program, boosting clean energy opportunities for small and medium-sized farmers, ranchers, and rural small businesses.

“Now the work begins to turn federal tax incentives into real climate solutions,” said ELPC’s Executive Director Howard Learner. “ELPC will work across the Midwest to effectively implement the ‘carrots’ in this important legislation while continuing our climate change solutions advocacy.”
