BREAKING NEWS: Peltola defeats Palin in RCV election.
Help us bring this history-making reform statewide.
John,
Wednesday night, the Alaska Division of Elections reported that Mary Peltola defeated Sarah Palin in the special congressional election using Ranked Choice Voting. Peltola will make history as the first Alaska Native elected to the U.S. Congress. Once again, this election showed the power of RCV to give more choice and more power to voters, help elect more women and people of color to office, and reduce the opportunity for extremists to win.
Americans now cite threats to democracy as the top issue facing the country. Many of us are feeling fearful about our democracy, our voting rights and our freedom to make our own healthcare decisions. Our rights are under attack, and we must do everything we can to reduce the extremism we are seeing in our politics and ensure our political leaders are motivated to work on behalf of the MAJORITY of voters. That’s exactly what RCV does –– and Alaska just proved it! Democrat Peltola won by building a broad, diverse cross-party coalition and by earning enough 2nd-choice votes from Republican Nick Begich (who had been eliminated) to earn a majority. This is the power of RCV, and we have a plan and a path to bring this reform to our state. Help us get there by donating TODAY and your donation will be doubled.
