Throughout the entire signature gathering process, our team was strong. Despite a heat wave, protests, and coordinated opposition, we organized behind a single mission - NO driver’s licenses for illegal immigrants - and we prevailed.
It’s plain and simple: giving Massachusetts driver's licenses to illegal immigrants is a bad idea.
We are a country of rules and laws, and those rules and laws must be followed if we are to live in harmony together.
If we don’t stop this law, and driver's licenses for illegal immigrants takes effect, it will:

Circumvent good immigration policy and place an undue burden on the Registry of Motor Vehicles, a department which openly admits they are unprepared to validate foreign documents

Hurt the integrity of our elections, creating a backdoor for non-citizens with a history of flaunting our country’s laws to participate in elections,

And, worst of all, it will give licenses to people who have illegally entered our country, people who may well be hiding records of violence and lawbreaking in their native countries, and it will open the door to more tragic, unnecessary deaths.
