CELEBRATING OUR WOMEN AND FAMILIES
As the summer comes to an end, we celebrated a number of milestones achieved by our program participants. Firstly, our Muslim Women's Civic Empowerment Program graduated its second cohort of women. We held our graduation ceremony at the Chez Maty and Sokhna Restaurant. We are so excited to be able to build this community of women who are very much a part of the fabric of our city, and yet, often times they feel left out. Our Program Coordinator, Musfika Moshahid, ensures that our members feel included and empowered throughout the program.
Our Brooklyn Program Coordinator has also been incredible in ensuring that the needs of our communities are met and heard. She attended a meet and greet with Governor Holchul in Brooklyn where she discussed the needs of Muslim youth. At the same time, with the rush of refugees entering our city, she delivered hygiene kits to the Muslim Community Center (MCC) where many of the refugees were sheltering. We are so proud of her.
And finally, we ended the summer with a Sports & Arts Day at the park for our families to come out and enjoy the last days of summer with us. We also utilized the day to inform our community members about our most recent findings from the Hate Crimes Report. And we provided pepper sprays to our women and young girls, who shared that they felt unsafe traveling alone and in public transportation in fear of being pushed or having their hijabs pulled.
We're gearing up for a jam-packed fall. Starting with our Children of Abraham Peace Vigil, to be held on September 11th. We're bringing back this incredible event which we've been organizing with our interfaith partners for the last 17 years.
This is an important day that changed the lives of people all over the world. We're calling on this day for healing and peace. Join us and our partners as we celebrate our common beliefs and the need for emphasizing our shared humanity to preserve life, combat hate, and elevate the human soul! SIGN UP HERE!
MCN is a trusted organization in our community as detailed by Charity Navigator and Guidestar.
Therefore, please give with confidence to MCN. It is with your support that we can build a Muslim civil-society-based institution advancing the narrative for Muslim Americans. Please consider a donation of $50, $100, $250, $500 to help us continue building a Muslim institution that empowers our community!
With Gratitude,
