A radical right-wing political organization has received a single donation worth $1.6 billion, the largest known single political donation in American history.

To make the matter even more concerning, this deep-pocket donation did not have to be disclosed to the public and might have never been known if not for the investigative reporting of the Lever, ProPublica, and the New York Times.



To put this donation into perspective, this $1.6 billion in dark money is more than the total of $1.5 billion spent in 2020 by 15 of the most politically active nonprofit organizations that lean towards Democrats. That’s in a presidential election year!

The beneficiary is a political group controlled by Leonard A. Leo, a MAGA con activist who helped engineer extreme conservative dominance of the Supreme Court and to fund battles against abortion rights, voting rules, and climate change policy.

These midterms it’s going to be an uphill battle with the supercharged conservative disinformation machine. We can’t afford to leave any Democratic candidate undefended!

They may have extremist billionaires, but We The People have the numbers. We can take on their machine, but only if we all chip in and do our part.

Deep pockets and dirty tricks are nothing new for MAGA Republicans. We may not be as independently wealthy as some of their individuals, but as elections have shown time and time again: WE ARE THE MAJORITY.

When we coordinate our funds to deliver effective messaging and mobilize voters, we can win, but it takes time, money, and commitment.
