It’s HOT here in Irvine. This type of heat is unusual enough for Orange
County that they’ve issued an excessive heat warning.

I took this screenshot yesterday, to tell my kids we better find some ways
to get out of our unairconditioned house this weekend!

Excessive heat is about more than just the inconvenience of being hot or
having to seek out air conditioning. It’s dangerous to already vulnerable
people in our community, causes energy costs to rise, threatens our food
supply, and worsens wildfires.

It’s clear we need to take bold action to address climate change. The
recently passed Inflation Reduction Act is a great start, and will help us
transition to clean sources of energy and address the record-breaking
drought we’ve had in California. But there’s more to be done, and I can
promise I’ll keep fighting for smart solutions to address climate change.
