John,

A dirty and dangerous deal between Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.V.) and Democratic leadership may soon be forced through Congress. This fossil fuel industry-written legislation would fast-track dangerous oil and gas projects, harm frontline communities, push endangered species toward extinction, and weaken bedrock environmental laws.

Will you help stop this dangerous bill? [link removed]

If the leaked draft is passed, it would expedite harmful projects like the Mountain Valley Pipeline — which poses a direct threat to the continued existence of species like endangered candy darters and Roanoke logperch.

It’s so bad that more than 650 climate, social justice and frontline groups have called on congressional leaders to oppose it. It will fuel the climate emergency by prioritizing oil and gas extraction for a decade to come — right when we need to do everything we can to keep fossil fuels in the ground.

Cynically, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer has said he will attach this legislation to a must-pass government spending bill this month. We can’t let that happen. Protecting our frontline communities, climate and wildlife is more important than another giveaway to Big Oil.

Tell your members of Congress that you’re counting on them to block any more handouts to the fossil fuel industry. [link removed]
