The people of Port-au-Prince, Haiti cannot wait—they need urgent access to food, clean water, and lifesaving medical care as soon as possible.
Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) teams are navigating roadblocks and barricades set up by armed groups in order to provide care in neighborhoods experiencing devastating violence. MSF staff are often in danger themselves, with some working in basements or windowless rooms to avoid the risk of stray bullets. Our staff are continuing to put themselves in harm’s way to deliver lifesaving care, but supplies are limited and needs are growing by the day.
MSF is calling on all parties involved in the recent clashes to allow aid to enter affected areas, ensure the safety of civilians, and allow people to access health care and basic services.
We are also calling on the United States government to end Title 42, a policy invoked at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic that allows for the blocking and rapid expulsion of migrants, including people seeking protection at the U.S. border. Haiti is in a state of humanitarian and economic crisis, and there is active violence taking place in the streets of its capital. No country should be sending people back to Haiti.
While Haiti is in turmoil, we are depending on committed supporters like you, Friend, to help us go where we’re needed most. One of the easiest, most convenient ways to ensure you’re making an impact when so many people are in need is by committing to a monthly gift.
