New Art Exchange
Mela starts this evening, Friday 2 September, with live Bollywood and Bhangra music by Kaykay. The launch is followed by Nott Another Mela!, a night of local South Asian talent including comedians, poets, singers and rappers.
The Nottingham Mela is the annual festival celebrating South Asian Arts is taking place at New Art Exchange (NAE) in Hyson Green. The vibrant, family friendly Mela programme features live music, dance, storytelling, comedy poetry, yoga, art workshops, a henna zone, and a desi menu created by the NAE Caf?Bar. The programme includes a mix of drop-in and pre-book, free events for all ages and interests.
Saturday?s Mela is a family friendly ?Roti Festival? day with Roti Moon Theatre Performances, Saturday Mela Art Club, a Family Bhangra Rave and live music events.
Sunday?s Mela programme is based on relaxation and wellbeing, with workshops, delicious food, yoga, poetry and live music.

With the end of the school holidays in sight, there is still time to enjoy the Nottingham Beach experience.
There's the free-to-access beach and wading pool, alongside a mix of children?s rides and sideshow games and attractions. There?s also a wide range of food and drink choices catering for all ages - from slushies and ice cream through to the Nottingham institution Filthy Vegan.?
The Beach has two giant inflatable waterslides: the Arrow which is the largest inflatable urban waterslide in the UK at 13m high and 55m long. This two-lane waterslide enables you to race against your friends. The smaller Little John slide ta 22m long and 7.5m high is great for kids.?
Nottingham Residents can book at a discounted rate of ?10 if booking online in advance and quoting their Nottingham City Council council tax number.

But is Neverland as perfect as it seems? Or will the evil Captain Hook and his band of pirates kill Peter and rule over it themselves??

West Bridgford
The A J Bell Tour of Britain cycle race heads to Nottinghamshire this week for its fifth stage. You don't have to be a cycling enthusiast to enjoy the spectacle of some of the world's best cycle teams racing through the county.
Starting from Central Avenue, West Bridgford at 10.45am, the 187km stage will take in Ruddington, Keyworth and Cotgrave before heading to Gedling and then on to the first sprint in Edingley. The race continues through Southwell on its way to the second sprint at Retford and the third at Clumber Park.?
The finish is in Mansfield with the stage leaders crossing the line at about 3.25pm.

Wollaton Park
Nottingham has a long association with archery, from the legend of Robin Hood right up to hosting the European Championships in 2016, and?is set to host two major archery competitions this autumn.?
The two competitions will take place at Wollaton Park from 15 to 17 September, and it?s a great opportunity to come and watch top world-class UK and European, Paralympian and Olympic archers. You can either buy a grandstand ticket for the best view in the house or come and watch for free.?Archery GB will be bringing their have-a-go range for visitors to try their hand at the sport.
The European Para Archery Cup finals will take place on Thursday 15 September and will see the best para archers from across Europe compete.
The 2022 National Tour Finals will take place on Friday 16 and Saturday 17 September and will see the UK's best recurve, compound and barebow archers shoot for the top spot on the podium.

Nottingham Arboretum
Enjoy a free concert by the Nottingham Concert Band in the beautiful surrounding of the Arboretum, this Sunday at 2.00pm.
The band draws on a diversity of musical styles, from classical transcriptions to contemporary compositions and from film and show compilations to big band favourites..
The band is an independent community wind band based in West Bridgford. and have been part of the East Midland's musical landscape since 1991.

Various venues in & around Eastwood
The D.H. Lawrence Festival is being held in Eastwood, to coincide with the anniversary of this accomplished (and during his lifetime, considered controversial) writer's birth in September 1885.?
Lawrence is best known for his novels but he was also a playwright, poet, translator and artist.??
One of the many free events will be the Festival and exhibition launch at the D.H. Lawrence Birthplace Museum?on September 2nd (6-8pm).
There are also walks, talks, live music and free open?days at various venues.

Nottingham?s own Green Festival provides the place for everyone to learn, explore and try the latest in everything environmentally friendly and ethical, while having lots of fun in the beautiful setting of the Arboretum Park.
This free event runs from 12 noon until 6.00pm
There will be numerous stalls featuring local small, green businesses, craft producers, food producers, voluntary and campaign groups.?
Music is an important part of the festival? and every year,? talented, local artists perform on the Arboretum bandstand.?

The Memory Walk is organised by the Alzheimer's Society to help raise funds and is open to all.
You will get a brilliant fundraising pack to help you smash your target, which includes a Memory Walk t-shirt.
When you cross the finish line, celebrate with your medal, knowing you have walked to give anyone affected by dementia the support they deserve.
There are two route options - the shorter 2km walk follows the lake shore and is suitable for?all ages and for pushchairs and wheelchairs with assistance. The longer?6km route?is a little more challenging, and will take you around more of the park, including grass and woodland paths where you may see the park?s resident deer. This route is not suitable for pushchairs or wheelchairs due to the nature of the pathways.
Registration closes?7 September at 4pm.
