Friend,

Saturday marked seven years since the tragic shooting in Sandy Hook -- and seven years without action.

Every day I'm reminded of the beautiful children we lost, because I keep their photos in my office. Every day I keep fighting for justice, to end gun violence -- but still, every day, 310 people are shot in the United States. Enough.

WE CANNOT ACCEPT TRAGEDY AFTER TRAGEDY AS "THE NEW NORMAL." WE NEED TO TAKE ACTION -- AND WE NEED TO TAKE IT NOW. Add your name next to mine to call for action in the Senate to end gun violence right now.

We gather too often now to talk about those we've lost -- just last week, I grieved the innocents lost after a hateful attack in Jersey City.

We know that comprehensive, evidence-based solutions -- like updating our laws to require background checks for all gun sales -- must be part of any congressional action to end gun violence.

But President Trump, Sen. McConell, and Senate Republicans have failed to act on the issue of gun violence, bowing repeatedly to the NRA and the hard right by choosing inaction or half measures over real, meaningful legislation.

Our communities cant continue to grieve -- in the seven years since Sandy Hook, there have been at least 2,322 mass shootings. We said then, may their memories be a blessing -- but their memories must also demand action.

I wont give up: Join me in calling for real, meaningful legislation to fight gun violence. Add your name today. ( [link removed]

Sincerely,

Chuck Schumer
