It is urgent because Congress is back in session on Tuesday after their long August break. Let me explain.
Almost every day we hear about a new abortion ban. In the little more than two months since the Supreme Court’s cruel decision overturning Roe v. Wade, 1 in 3 women have lost access to abortion.
This is exactly why the Equal Rights Amendment is so critically needed.
The ERA is the only permanent way to provide a constitutional basis for reproductive rights, sex equality, and women’s rights. You can act right now – to make this a reality.

When you take action today, your message will be waiting in your Representative’s inbox on Tuesday when they return to work after their long summer recess. I want it to be full – overflowing – with messages from advocates like you.
The US House of Representatives has already removed the original time limit set on the ERA. Now the House is advancing House Res. 891, which expresses the sense of the House that the Equal Rights Amendment to the US Constitution is valid. This means that the ERA has already been ratified and officially recognized by the House.
The wording of House Res. 891 was intentionally modeled after language used to confirm the validity of the very important 14th Amendment and its Equal Protection Clause.
The good news? 183 members of the House have already signed on to the resolution as co-sponsors.
The bad news? We are aiming for 218 total co-sponsors, the majority of the House, to sign on to House Res. 891. That has to happen as quickly as possible. To do that we need your help.
Please take the time to thank your Representative for becoming a co-sponsor of House Res 891, or urge them to become a co-sponsor of House Res 891 today. [[link removed]]

We all know that right-wing extremists will not stop with abortion bans. Equal pay is on the line – particularly important this Labor Day since women are the lowest paid workers! Contraception and marriage equality are at risk too!
Finally adding the ERA to the US Constitution will remedy those important issues and so many more. Will you take immediate action to ensure equality and pave the way for the ERA to finally be added to the Constitution?
