Earlier this summer, Congress passed bipartisan gun violence prevention
laws to keep our communities safer. These new laws raise the minimum age
required to purchase semi-automatic weapons, ban high-capacity magazines,
and regulate ghost guns.

This was an important step, but we have more work to do. We still need to
reinstate a nationwide ban on assault weapons.

Data shows us that laws like these really do help prevent gun deaths.
Every American deserves to feel safe–whether they’re at school, their
place of worship, or in the grocery store.

Katie was proud to vote for a bill to ban assault weapons across the
country. It passed in the House, but has stalled in the Senate. [ [link removed] ]Sign on

We had a nationwide assault weapon ban from 1994 to 2004, but extremist
politicians have refused to renew it, making our country a less safe
place. Katie is fed up with Republicans who are beholden to the gun lobby
and refuse to put safety ahead of profit.

Onward,

Team Porter
