Let’s Talk About Barriers

Getting an ID is easy, right? We’re guessing that since you keep up with Spread The Vote + Project ID, you know that this is not the case.

Today’s article in Las Vegas Weekly highlights one of the many challenges that the people that we work with face when trying to get an ID. As of just a few weeks ago, the Nevada DMV switched to an “appointment only” model. The problem? An online appointment is very difficult to schedule without access to reliable internet service and most of our clients can’t provide the required phone number, because they don’t have phone service.

We are still on the road to 10,000 IDs, but it’s barriers like these that make our job more difficult.

Help Us Reach 10,000

It was barriers like these that inspired us to develop our sister organization, Project ID Action Fund. We believe that all Americans should have access to the government-issued IDs that they need to get a job, obtain housing and utilize social service programs. We’re advocating for important changes, and if you haven’t checked us out and joined our mailing list, you really should.
