Dear John,
It is with great sadness that I share with you the loss of Gamaliel organizer, Rev. Eugene J. Se’Bree. Rev. Se’Bree joined the organizing staff of NOAH, Gamaliel’s local affiliate in Nashville, in November 2021. As an organizer he worked closely with the NOAH Criminal Justice Task Force, focusing on a non-law enforcement response to the mental health crisis.
I had the opportunity to spend time with Rev. Se’Bree when the Gamaliel Network gathered in Memphis in April 2022 in solidarity with local affiliate MICAH to get out the vote ahead of their District Attorney’s primary race in May. He spoke passionately about his work in Nashville and was looking forward to assisting with the upcoming Gamaliel Transformational Justice training and convening in July.
We grieve his loss with his family, friends, and NOAH colleagues and are grateful to have shared the journey with him—even for a short time!
I will be representing Gamaliel at his funeral on Saturday, September 3, at 10:00 a.m. at Jefferson Street Missionary Baptist Church, where he was an associate pastor. If you would like to express condolences, please send them to his wife: Dr. Monique Moultrie,
2892 Creekbend Dr., Nashville, TN 37207.
In solidarity,
Ana Garcia-Ashley, Executive Director
