Dear Friend, I am delighted to tell you, I’ve had a wonderful summer. I’m reflecting on how amazing it was to be able to attend not one, but several 2SLGBTQIA+ Pride celebrations across the country this summer. It was an honour and a privilege to hear your personal stories, share mine with you, and show others that the Greens will always defend my community and continue to advocate for equality. Pride started as a protest, a movement that has always been led by Black Trans women and Indigenous people. Even though Pride has taken a celebratory form, it is still an action to defend our rights and to show love in the face of hate. It was especially meaningful to me this year, as the first openly Trans leader of a federal party in Canada, to be able to dance down the streets as myself, and how special it was to do it with all of you Greens. Toronto Pride
A wonderful Pride Parade in Toronto. It was great to have Mike Shreiner with me. Thank you to all the members of the GPC and the GPO for participating. Vacouver Pride
It was so fun to be back in Vancouver for the Pride Parade on July 31st, and connect with all three levels of elected Greens. Here, I’m with a Green Party of Vancouver Park Board Candidate (and fellow Young Green!) Liam Menard.
Here I am with BC Green MLAs Sonia Furstenau and Adam Olsen, MP Elizabeth May, and the Green Party of Vancouver candidates! If you’re in BC, make sure you’re registered to vote on October 15th! Halifax Pride
It was wonderful to attend the Pride Parade Activities in Halifax, joined by my friend Anthony Edmonds, the Leader of the Green Party of Nova Scotia. Thank you Anthony, it is always a joy to work together!
It was such an honour to march with the Official Opposition Party, the Green Party of Prince Edward Island at the PEI Pride Parade. Together we are stronger than ever. Thank you to Peter Bevan-Baker for the warm welcome. Your party is a true example of how Greens continue to connect and innovate across the Island. As you can see, I also dressed in drag for a couple of the parades. Being able to explore my femininity is only something I have become comfortable doing as my body is transitioning to be what feels right for me. Showing up in makeup and dresses was a way for me to celebrate my freedom. Let’s keep working on making the Green Party an inclusive and welcome space for the 2SLGBTQIA+ community - Will you chip in $5 today to help our elected Greens advocate for equality? In solidarity Amita Kuttner
