The Early Childhood Leadership Summit - August Convening Recap  

On Wednesday, August 24 – Friday, August 26, 2022, The Hunt Institute hosted a bipartisan convening with 52 state teams, including Puerto Rico and Washington DC, comprised of senior elected officials, gubernatorial staff, and key early childhood system leaders for the 2022 Early Childhood Leadership Summit in Phoenix, AZ.  

Hunt-Kean Leadership Fellows – Cohort Eight August Convening Recap

On August 10-12th, 2022, The Hunt Institute hosted the second and final convening of the Hunt-Kean Leadership Fellows’ eighth cohort in San Diego, CA. Learn more about the program and view the recap and photo album here

Hunt President & CEO Dr. Javaid Siddiqi interviewed on student debt crisis

Beyond canceling debt, how can the US alleviate the burden of student loans? Dr. Javaid Siddiqi, President & CEO of The Hunt Institute, recently spoke with Jarred Hill of Hearst's Washington Bureau on this topic of reforming interest rates for student loans.

The Hunt Institute partners with Center of Excellence in Leadership of Learning in supporting Indiana literacy efforts

This past month, Governor Eric J. Holcomb and Secretary of Education Dr. Katie Jenner of the Indiana Department of Education announced a $111 million grant from the Lilly Endowment to support early literacy. The Hunt Institute is a proud partner with the Center of Excellence in Leadership of Learning (CELL) in this work, and are looking forward to supporting the implementation of Science of Reading for Hoosier students.

SAS, Hunt Institute partner to help states alleviate learning loss effects of COVID-19

Read SAS's blog post on the Chief State School Officers Retreats, which were co-hosted by the Hunt Institute and SAS and focused on accelerating learning and reducing achievement gaps. The retreats are a critical component of the COVID Constituency initiative, which aims to translate public priorities and needs into policy action for policymakers and education leaders. The blog post was written by SAS' Melody Schopp, PhD, and our own CEO/President Javaid Siddiqi, PhD, and links to the retreats' key takeaways.

Research Brief: Measuring Educational Opportunity in North Carolina Public School Districts
Dr. Robert C. Carr is a research scientist at the Center for Child and Family Policy at Duke University’s Sanford School of Public Policy. In a research brief titled “Measuring Educational Opportunity in North Carolina Public School Districts,” Dr. Carr examines data on the reading and math achievement of students in North Carolina public schools as they progress from third to eighth grade.
