It's here! Transit Month starts today, with 30 days of events tailored for riders like YOU!

Join us all month long in celebrating our buses, trains and the people who ride and operate them!

Today officially kicks off Transit Month, a time where we highlight and uplift San Francisco's public transit, the people who make it run, and the people who ride it every day. Along with our partners, we are thrilled to celebrate the wonderful transit system that makes our city accessible, affordable, and equitable for all. Today also launches our region-wide ride contest and prizes (including a ride in a BART train cab, a tour of the Central Subway, a signed Warriors jersey, a Muni tote bag, and more!), a San Francisco Ride-Along & Rally, where you can ride transit with Mayor London Breed, Assemblyperson Matt Haney, Senator Scott Wiener, and other city leaders.

Events include but are not limited to a Cable Car Museum Tour, a ride along and happy hour with transit CEOs from various agencies, live music at transit stations, panel discussions, a day where we try to ride all 27 transit lines, a ferry beer and ride, and so much more!

We hope you’ll join us for another successful and ride-filled month this September! See all the events and RSVP here. You do not need to be an SFTR member to participate in Transit Month activities, but we hope you'll consider becoming one today and join the fight for better and more equitable transit for us all!

Thank you Alfred Twu for this Transit Month map!

"We hope you’ll join SFTR and other transit agencies and organizations at this year’s Transit Month. Transit Month is a time to show our support for the people who ride public transit, as well as all the drivers, mechanics, and everyone who makes public transit service possible every day. Everyone in our city deserves access to affordable, efficient, equitable, and fast transit, and events like Transit Month help us come together as a community, raise awareness about what needs to be done, and celebrate the big wins we’ve had as a city over the years."

— Vinita Goyal, Executive Director of San Francisco Transit Riders

Don't miss the opportunity to Ride & Rally with Mayor London Breed, Senator Scott Wiener, Assemblymember Matt Haney, Jeff Tumlin and SF Supervisors at our Transit Month kick-off event on Sept. 7!

Now that Transit Month is officially here, we hope you'll join us for SFTR's kick-off event: A Ride-Along and Rally that ends at City Hall!

On the morning of September 7, you'll meet up with other riders, city leaders, and SFTR members at locations across the city to ride Muni together to City Hall. Each location will have a ride along captain who will be wearing a black and orange SFTR t-shirt. You will be connected with them before the event.

At City Hall, we will have speakers ready to contextualize the state of public transit today and set the stage for our engagement on all things transit for the rest of September. Confirmed attendees include Mayor London Breed, Senator Scott Wiener, Assemblymember Matt Haney and almost every district supervisor.

The Ride Along & Rally will take place, Wednesday September 7, 2022, 8:00am-10:00am.

"The Ride-Along & Rally event invites all riders to come together and celebrate the major wins we’ve had this year, such as free Muni for all youth, SFMTA’s commitment to restoring almost every line that was suspended during the pandemic and winning permanent transit only lanes to speed up service on eight routes. Public transit is a key way to exercise our democratic rights in the city. Riders in San Francisco have used their political power to make sure that transit needs are prioritized, and Transit Month is dedicated to them and their efforts."

— Vinita Goyal, Executive Director of San Francisco Transit Riders
