This past year Republicans have made strides in restoring common sense law and order in the Commonwealth. We at the Republican Party of Virginia want to highlight the fantastic work our Delegates and Senators in the General Assembly were able to accomplish this past session.
Today’s spotlight is on Senator Mark Obenshain. This past session, Senator Obenshain carried SB 124 which provided punishments for individuals who misuse their power of attorney in the name of financial exploitation of incapacitated adults. Now under Virginia Law, individuals found guilty will face a Class 1 Misdemeanor. It also provides that the power of attorney immediately ceases upon violation of SB 124.
Thanks to Senator Obenshain, those most vulnerable in our society will have the justice they need when bad actors take advantage. We cannot stand by and let those who have put their faith in someone have no recourse of action.
It is clear that Republicans are leading the way to make Virginia the best place to live, work, and raise a family. Be on the lookout for more GOP Wins from this last session as we continue to thank our great elected officials for the hard work that they are doing!
