Sign the petition: Thank you, President Biden…Now, cancel all student debt!
After years of activists and advocates calling for action, President Biden announced that his administration would be canceling up to $10,000 in federal student loan debt per borrower with an income under $125,000/year and up to $20,000 for borrowers with Pell Grants.1
Borrowers are buried in student loans–43 million borrowers owe a total of more than $1.6 trillion in student debt.2 President Biden’s announcement represents a critical first step toward addressing an economic issue impacting 43 million Americans.
Now, let’s call on the Biden administration to finish the job as soon as possible and cancel all student debt, to deliver permanent relief to millions of struggling families across the country!
We need to continue to advocate on behalf of borrowers—ultimately, for even more student debt cancellation. And we won’t stop until the twin evils of predatory lending practices and ever-increasing tuition costs that result in college being systemically unattainable for so many (especially Black and brown folks) are addressed.
