AKRON, OH — Today, Democratic congressional nominee Emilia Sykes released her first television ad of the general election. Titled “My Community,” the ad highlights Sykes’ deep roots in her community and bipartisan, independent record of getting things done for her constituents as Minority Leader of the Ohio State Legislature.
“Homegrown candidate, homegrown values — it’s an honor to serve the community I’ve called home my entire life,” Sykes said. “When families are struggling, they need someone who will work with leaders from both sides of the aisle to cut taxes, lower costs and create good jobs. In Congress, I’ll continue to do the same, putting people over politics to serve the community that raised me.”

The OH-13 congressional race is a highly competitive matchup between Sykes and anti-choice extremist Madison Gesiotto Gilbert, who district-shopped as she weighed in on where to run for office. Recently, Inside Elections shifted their rating towards Sykes and rated this race as “toss-up.”
