Last month, the most ambitious federal climate legislation in U.S. history — the Inflation Reduction Act — was signed into law. This historic law will invest $369 billion in climate and clean energy solutions, including:

• More than $135 billion for clean energy tax credits to ramp up solar and wind power, which could save households $500 a year in energy costs.
• Electric vehicles incentives, including a $7,500 rebate for new vehicles and a $4,500 tax credit for used ones.
• A nationwide program to reduce methane pollution from oil and gas production, with more than $1.5 billion for EPA to provide technical support to companies to reduce this dangerous greenhouse gas. 
• $21 billion for climate smart agriculture to help farmers and rural communities cut pollution and make food production more resilient to climate impacts. 

This landmark progress is a huge achievement, and it wouldn’t have been possible without the support of EDF members like you. Our work on this law continues as we advocate for the strongest, most effective and most equitable implementation.
