Hi Friend,
Labor Day marks the
unofficial end of summer. Kids are settling back into another school
season in the classroom and on campus. We are all still navigating the
challenges of balancing our daily lives, finding positive moments
where we can, and looking forward to the rest of the year.
We can all agree on this: We all
need a break. We all need Labor Day.
Labor Day pays tribute to the
contributions and achievements of American workers, and the past
couple of years have taken a toll on us all. We are ready to take a
well-deserved day off. Celebrate the work that you do each day - as a
hard worker and as a member of your community. Be appreciative to the
essential workers who cannot take the day off and be sensitive to
those currently searching for new job opportunities; acknowledge their
dedication and efforts. This day is for all of us.
As you prepare to celebrate Labor Day
and say “farewell” to summer, do so with respect and care, keeping in
mind that this day is meant for you to relax, celebrate hard work, and
recognize others who are constantly showing up to make our lives
better. We also encourage you to be mindful that if you choose to
drink alcohol, do so responsibly using these tips:
|
|
|
|
|
Make sure you eat!
And if you are hosting, be sure to
have food available for guests or ask them to contribute to the
spread.
|
|
|
|
Drink plenty of water
and have plenty of non-alcoholic beverages on hand for yourself and
friends.
Consider offering a zero-proof
cocktail or a fun non-alcoholic drink for those who choose not to
drink or who might be taking a night off, or have offered to be the
designated driver.
|
|
|
|
If you leave home, plan
for a safe ride back.
Never ever drive drunk or impaired
by other substances. And make sure those around you have a safe way to
get home, too.
|
|
|
|
Don’t overdo it!
Remember your limits and look out
for members of your group. Be aware that not all beverages are created
equally, so it's important to make sure the drink you're enjoying is a
standard drink. A standard drink, whether beer, spirits, wine or
other, contains the same amount of alcohol -- so if you choose to
drink, follow the standard drink recommendation to stay within your
limits. Plan ahead with our Virtual Bar.

|
|
|
Talk to your kids.
Have conversations with your kids
about being responsible citizens. Role play ways to say NO to underage
drinking, and model responsible behaviors for them. Never purchase,
serve or supply alcohol to anyone under the legal drinking age.
|
|
From all of us at Responsibility.org, have a relaxing
and rewarding Labor Day! |
