Dear John,

On Sept. 12, Sarah Clarke, director of the Quaker United Nations Office (QUNO) in New York, will give Pendle Hill's Annual Stephen G. Cary Memorial lecture. As we approach the 75th anniversary of Quaker work at the U.N., we’ll reflect on the wisdom and life of Quaker civil rights activist Bayard Rustin. His work offers insights and lessons that continue to guide us today and as we look into the future. The event will be streamed via Zoom.

Restorative justice is based on the philosophy that we are all interconnected, that we live in relationship with one another, and that our actions impact each other. This September, AFSC is offering a three-session webinar series on restorative justice as part of our Community Safety Beyond Policing trainings. Participants will develop an understanding of restorative justice and its practices—and how to strengthen our communities through accountability.

No Way to Treat a Child campaign webinar [link removed]
Sept. 13, 12 p.m. ET / 9 a.m. PT
Please join our monthly webinar from AFSC and Defense for Children International - Palestine on advocacy for Palestinian rights. Last month the Israeli military launched a massive military offensive on Gaza, killing dozens of people, including 17 Palestinian children. Less than two weeks later, Israeli forces raided and shut down the offices of six Palestinian civil society organizations. This webinar will discuss how you can advocate for accountability for Palestinian children as well as the Palestinian human rights defenders standing up for them.
