A stable Europe helps America sustain access to other parts of the world, denies critical strategic space for the malicious actions of Russia and China, and delivers strategic partners that contribute to common defense and security. For those reasons, it is in the national interest of the U.S. that Russia fail in its illegal war.

In 2016, China’s navy surpassed the U.S. Navy as the largest fleet in the world. The Chinese navy has since continued to grow, while ours has gotten smaller. Unless we move quickly to address this weakness, China’s leaders may well calculate that they could outlast the U.S. in a long war.

In response to China’s aggression against Taiwan, the Biden administration not only chose to do nothing, it also canceled an essential missile test that was completely unrelated to the China-Taiwan problem. It’s time the administration stop capitulating to our adversaries when they choose to ramp up tensions. Doing so will only hurt the readiness of our forces while doing nothing to dissuade the dangerous behavior of our competitors.
