DEADLINE APPROACHING
TO SAVE BRISTOL BAY
The EPA is considering vetoing the dangerous Pebble Mine, a proposed copper mine that would devastate Alaska’s Bristol Bay, which is home to North America’s most prolific salmon habitat and is important to the culture and livelihoods of local Indigenous peoples.
The mining company refuses to go quietly, however. They are pushing back hard – so we must show the Biden administration we support protections for Bristol Bay and oppose the Pebble Mine.

Friend — a key deadline is imminent. We need your help to protect Bristol Bay today.
Bristol Bay is home to some of America’s most important and valuable waters, which include record-shattering salmon runs that provide nearly 60 percent of the world’s wild sockeye salmon. The Bay and its salmon play a central role in the cultural and spiritual identity of tribes in the area and employ tens of thousands of people in commercial fishing, hunting and sportfishing, outdoor recreation, and tourism. Simply put, Bristol Bay is a unique place that must be protected.
But, Bristol Bay and all the wildlife and people who depend on it are under threat by the proposed Pebble Mine, a massive open pit mine at the headwaters of the Bay that would produce up to 10.2 billion tons of toxic waste and destroy the watershed. It is absolutely essential that we stop this mine and protect it from the mining companies who would poison Bristol Bay in order to line their pockets.
The EPA is currently considering vetoing the project, but of course, the mining industry is pushing back hard against their efforts. We can ensure Bristol Bay is protected for generations to come — but only if people like you speak up now.
Take action today. We have set a goal to deliver 5,000 messages supporting EPA’s protections for Bristol Bay before the September 6 deadline. Please, send yours now »
For decades, local Tribes and Alaskans have been fighting this dangerous mine, which would jeopardize the wild sockeye salmon runs, the largest in the world. These runs have been the foundation of Alaska Native culture in the region for thousands of years and provide over 15,000 jobs and $2.2 billion in annual economic activity.
Everyone who relies on this important watershed to sustain their way of life and livelihoods — including local Tribes, commercial fisherman, recreationists, and others across the community — need your help to tell EPA to veto the Pebble Mine now.
Bristol Bay is irreplaceable and if this mine is built, it will destroy this incredible place and the lives of everyone who relies on the Bay. We must show the Biden administration that all of us, from Alaska to New York and everywhere in between, support their proposal to veto the Pebble Mine and protect Bristol Bay once and for all!
Join us in taking action right now. Don't miss out on this opportunity to protect one of our country’s most culturally and economically important watersheds. Send your message of support today »
Thank you for standing up for our environment.
Onward,
