FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE CONTACT: Jessica Proud | [email protected] ***MEDIA ADVISORY*** NYGOP Chairman Langworthy, Congressman Zeldin, and Alison Esposito Continue Call to Repeal Cashless Bail After Hamburg Man with History of Violence Towards Women was Released Before New Rape Charge NEW YORK - On Thursday, September 1, 2022, at 12:00PM, NYGOP Chairman Nick Langworthy will be joined by Congressman Lee Zeldin (R, NY-1), the Republican Party and Conservative Party nominee for Governor and Alison Esposito, the Republican Party and Conservative Party nominee for Lieutenant Governor will continue their call to repeal cashless bail after a Hamburg man with a history of violence was released after being charged with harassment and stalking only to be arraigned this Friday on additional charges of rape. After serving two state prison sentences for assaulting a woman and raping and kidnapping another woman, Scott Saracina was released from his most recent 20-year sentence in August of 2021. In February of 2022, Saracina was charged with Aggravated Harassment in the Second Degree (Class “A” misdemeanor) and one count of Stalking in the Fourth Degree (Class “B” misdemeanor) and an order of protection was enacted on behalf of the victim. Saracina was released on his own recognizance. Violating the order of protection multiple times, Saracina was charged with two separate counts of Criminal Contempt in the Second Degree (Class “A” misdemeanor) on two separate occasions in March 2022 and released on his own recognizance. On Friday, Saracina was charged with Rape in the First Degree (Class “B” violent felony), Kidnapping in the Second Degree (Class “B” violent felony) and Unlawful Imprisonment in the First Degree (Class “E” felony) following an incident with another woman while he was out on his own recognizance.
