Working Families Party

John,

I have good news: last week, the Working Families Party proudly endorsed Cristina Tzintzún Ramirez in her bid to defeat Sen. John Cornyn in Texas. Cristina is running an unapologetically progressive campaign that, thanks to a wave of grassroots support, is in first place in the latest polls.

But there’s some bad news too: the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC) just endorsed MJ Hegar — a former Republican who voted for Carly Fiorina in 2016 and is running against Cristina in the primary.

This is a disastrously bad endorsement by the DSCC, and it shows that the establishment is uniting against us. We’re going to need to fight NOW if we want to expand the electorate, win this race, and take back the Senate from Republicans in 2020.

Can you split a donation and help support Cristina’s campaign and our Texas WFP organizers today? We're both facing our single biggest fundraising deadline of the year at midnight on December 31st.

This is a textbook move by the corporate Democratic establishment. They’re once again putting their fingers on the scale in a primary to defeat a more qualified, more progressive frontrunner and woman of color in order to anoint their preferred candidate. And this time, they’ve chosen someone who, just three years ago, was casting her ballot in the Republican presidential primary.

Cristina, on the other hand? She co-founded the Workers Defense Project, which protects the rights of low wage workers and Jolt, which organizes and mobilizes young Latino voters. She is fearless in her support of Medicare for All, the Green New Deal, and comprehensive immigration reform.

Most importantly, she’s committed along with WFP to building a Texas for the many, not the few. But we need your help to make that vision a reality. That’s why we’re asking you to split a donation today between our organizing work and Cristina’s campaign now.

Ending the Republican Party’s stranglehold on the U.S. Senate — and replacing them with bold progressive Senators — is the only way to win the transformational change we need. And building a multiracial, working-class movement that will reach new voters and win in places like Texas is the only way we are going to get there.

In solidarity,

Jorge Contreras
Texas WFP State Director
