City of Ann Arbor Updates: Labor Day Schedule -and- Planning to Begin for Water Treatment Plant Project

  • City municipal offices will be closed and curbside collection of trash/compost/recycling will not take place on Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 5. The collections schedule will instead resume Tuesday, Sept. 6, with a one-day delay; Friday routes will be serviced on Saturday.
  • The City of Ann Arbor is launching a planning project to rehabilitate the city’s water treatment plant, which was constructed in 1938. The city provides drinking water, drawn from both surface and groundwater sources, to approximately 125,000 people residing in the city of Ann Arbor and in Scio and Ann Arbor townships. To ensure continued reliable, high-quality water service, the city must now plan for significant infrastructure investments. Community engagement opportunities will take place throughout the planning project; those details will be forthcoming.
