Banned Books Week (Sept. 18-24) is an annual event celebrating the freedom to read. Banned Books Week brings together the entire book community — librarians, booksellers, publishers, journalists, teachers, and readers of all types — in shared support of the freedom to seek and express ideas, even those some consider unorthodox or unpopular.
PFLAG National is a member of the Banned Books Week coalition as well as the Book Ban Busters coalition, to help ensure LGBTQ+ people and their families have the tools, resources, and support they need to fight censorship in their community.
More on what we're fighting for; where, when, and how we're fighting for it; and with whom we're partnering to achieve justice and equality for our LGBTQ+ loved ones
Tell your Senators TODAY to support the Respect for Marriage Act. (And set a reminder to keep telling them!) Folks who don't believe LGBTQ+ people should have rights are flooding Senate phone lines with their ugly rhetoric. In fact, they're doing that at every level of office.
PFLAGers, don't let their voices be the only ones lawmakers hear! No matter WHO your Senators are, tell them to support the Respect for Marriage Act to repeal DOMA and codify into law that couples of the same gender or of different races have the freedom to marry.
