John, this past weekend, I had the chance to join Rev. Al Sharpton on MSNBC to discuss the pressing issues in the news right now.
In the wake of finding top secret documents at Mar-a-Lago, House Republicans continually work to defend former president Donald Trump and have even attacked the FBI just for doing their jobs. Trump’s campaign started out as a big lie, his administration was a big lie, and he continues to dispute facts and reality. This is a repetitive cycle, and sadly, Republicans do not have the courage to stand up to this man.
Support for Democrats across the nation is rallying because we’ve been delivering for the people. In the last few months, we’ve seen job growth accelerate in all industries, passed the first major gun violence prevention bill in over a decade, secured the largest investments for climate change and infrastructure in U.S. history, and even canceled up to $20,000 in student debt per borrower.
But there’s still more work to be done. Black student loan borrowers still hold twice as much debt as their white counterparts, prescription drug costs are too high, and our abortion rights, health care, and bodily autonomy are under attack.
While Republicans are focused on defending Trump, this administration and Democrats in Congress are doing the work to put money back in the pockets of Americans, create good-paying union jobs, and invest in our future.
As a Cuyahoga County Council member and Chairwoman of the Cuyahoga County Democratic Party, Shontel Brown has spent the last decade serving the people of Ohio and building coalitions. Now, as the Congresswoman for Ohio’s 11th District, she will fight for affordable quality health care, jobs that pay fair wages, a strong public education system, and equity and justice for all. Will you join her and be the change we need?
