Friend,

I’m reaching out with a final request before our August fundraising deadline. Can you contribute a few dollars to help my team fight for an expanded Democratic majority in this year’s midterm elections? [[link removed]]

If you have a few minutes, please read my message below about what we accomplished over the last few months in the U.S. Congress, and consider what might happen if we lose the Senate this November.

Here's the bottom line: If we lose our majority, we’ll lose the chance to fight back on reproductive rights, marriage equality, voting rights, affordable health care, more jobs, a more robust economy, and so many other issues we all care deeply about.

So please, donate what you can by using this secure link: secure.actblue/aug31x22 [[link removed]]

Thank you,

Tim Kaine

Subject: Important update: It's been a productive summer
Sent on August 29, 2022 at 10:05 a.m.

Hi there, it's Tim Kaine. I hope you're having a safe and restful end to your summer.

The job of a member of Congress is, at times, very frustrating. We often face gridlock on issues that affect our constituents. Sometimes, we even lose the fight or face major setbacks on critical priorities we care deeply about.

But at other times, when we keep pushing hard and work together, we’re able to fulfill our highest duties and get big things done for the American people -- and I’m incredibly proud to say that in the last few months, we’ve done just that. So I wanted to send a quick note to highlight some of those accomplishments.

First up, we passed a bipartisan infrastructure package to improve our roads, bridges, rail (including Metro!), water, and broadband -- which are critical for economic development. We’ve been trying to do it for decades, and finally secured historic legislation to get things done.

Next, we passed a bipartisan gun safety reform bill. It doesn’t go nearly as far as you or I would like, but this is an issue that’s been extremely close to my heart, especially since the horrific and tragic shooting at Virginia Tech when I was governor in 2007 -- and of course, the thousands of subsequent mass shootings that have happened since then. Something needed to be done, and we’ve taken the first step to make our country safer.

We made historic investments in health care for veterans with the PACT Act, boosted made-in-America chips manufacturing, confirmed the nation’s first African American woman Supreme Court justice, and embraced a clean energy revolution with the Inflation Reduction Act.

And just last week, President Biden announced a plan to forgive significant student loan debt for up to 43 million Americans, including many in Virginia who’ve been held back by debt for too long.

None of these accomplishments would have been possible without a Democratic majority in the U.S. Senate. That’s why I’m writing to you today.

If we want to keep seeing progress in this country, we must defend and expand the Democratic Senate majority this November -- we cannot afford to lose a single seat. I’m going to do everything I can to make sure we win big in the midterm elections -- and I hope you’ll support these efforts today by contributing a few dollars before our August fundraising deadline.
