TV weatherman Mark Ronchetti has been trying to backtrack his extreme position on abortion in his recent campaign messaging. The truth is that Ronchetti admitted to Pastor Steve Smothermon he wants to ban abortion in all cases. Because our end-of-month deadline is today, we need Democrats like you to step up to support our Party by the end of the day.
An article from Politico this week documented Ronchetti’s backtrack on his extreme abortion position after the Dobbs US Supreme Court decision. Like other Republicans across the country, Ronchetti knows how unpopular a total abortion ban is, so he is intentionally misconstruing his position to trick voters into supporting him.

“A number of Republicans are trying to avoid political fallout from the Dobbs decision by quietly deemphasizing their past position on abortion on campaign websites and on the trail. Another handful of GOP candidates — especially those in contests in states that are more of a reach for the party — have gone up with TV ads looking to counter Democrats’ attacks on abortion.
Among the earliest Republicans pushing back on the issue on TV was Mark Ronchetti, a one-time TV meteorologist who is challenging Democratic Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham in New Mexico this year, after losing a close race for the state’s open Senate seat two years ago.” |
Ronchetti knows that a majority of New Mexicans don’t share his beliefs on abortion. With 57% of New Mexico likely voters that believe abortion should remain legal in the state,it’s clear that New Mexicans support women and their doctors’ autonomy to decide the best course of action for women’s reproductive healthcare.
As a young woman living in New Mexico, it’s terrifying to know Mark Ronchetti wants to annihilate my reproductive rights.
