I hate being so direct, but we have 40 days until voters start filling out their ballots, and we just got word that Kevin McCarthy's super PAC is now spending a total of $2.7 million to bolster my opponent Michelle Steel and try to defeat us.

Their announcement came just as Steel had gotten slammed in the local press for cosponsoring legislation that would enact a nationwide abortion ban at the federal level. It also came as new polling surfaced showing Democrats making gains nationally, and CA-45 is a seat McCarthy cannot afford to lose in his fight for the gavel.

The good news: Republicans are panicking about their chances here.

The bad news: $2.7 million in super PAC spending just made this one of the most expensive House races in the country.
