There's been a lot of talk about Democrats running in swing states being
"divided" over Biden canceling student debt for millions of mostly
low-income and middle class borrowers.

But so far, the response has actually been overwhelmingly positive --
including by Democrats in competitive races across the country.

It turns out that it's popular to help 43 million Americans including
millions who went to vocational schools and millions more who didn't
finish -- sometimes because their parents or other family members died
from Covid.

Check out the quotes from swing-state Dems who are supporting student debt
forgiveness below.

[ [link removed] ]If you like what you see, chip in $1 each to several Dems running in
swing states and districts whose elections and re-elections are crucial
for Democrats to keep control of Congress.

Sen. Raphael Warnock (GA-Sen), who has pushed relentlessly on this issue
-- said, "This announcement will help many Georgians, some of whom have
been struggling with debt for decades, get their financial footing, and it
will help keep our economy strong and growing."

Mark Kelly, (AZ-Sen) said, "The reality is college costs too much, and the
federal government should not be profiting off of young graduates."

Mandela Barnes' (WI-Sen) campaign said, "Barnes supports common sense
proposals to lower costs, including some student loan relief and a middle
class tax cut. The Lt. Governor knows the (Biden) plan will help
Wisconsinites...."

John Fetterman (PA-Sen) said, "We’ve had trillions in resources to bail
out big banks, trillions in tax cuts for the wealthiest 1%. We need to
bring these resources to bear to cancel student debt, both here in PA and
in the United States."

Sen. Maggie Hassan (NH-Sen) said, "The rising cost of higher education has
led to greater and greater debt for far too many Granite Staters....the
administration's announcement is a balanced compromise approach that will
help those who need it the most."

Rep. Val Demings (FL-Sen) said, "Today’s relief is targeted to the middle
class, has new reforms to make it easier to work off loans, and will
expand opportunity for everyone."

Rep. Angie Craig (MN-02) said, "The executive order announced today will
help provide a bit of debt relief and give folks time to plan to start
repaying those student loans. But we have to work to make college more
affordable and make sure students know that technical education can also
offer great careers as well without the burden of excessive student loan
debt."

Rep. Mike Levin (CA-49) said, "The student debt crisis is placing a
massive burden on low-income and middle-class families, and I strongly
support action to lower the cost of higher education, expand Pell Grants,
and provide debt relief for those who need it most."

Rep. Cindy Axne (IA-03) said, "You have folks who took out $20K for a
loan. They made payments for 10 years and now they owe $30K. That’s more
than they borrowed to even start with. Part of this decision that the
president made is to address that."

Rep. Dina Titus (NV-01) said, "Today’s announcement goes one step further
in making higher education more accessible for everyone. Affordable
college is not only an investment in generations to come; it is also an
investment in our economic viability, workforce, and leadership on the
global stage."

Rep. Colin Allred (TX-32) said, "For so many, like people of color
disproportionately impacted by the burden of student loan debt, @POTUS’
relief plan will mean a lot. With it, we'll make progress in closing the
racial wealth gap so more folks can live their version of the American
dream."

Rep. Abigail Spanberger (VA-07) said, "I think there are certainly
benefits to many individuals, to communities, to the ability to invest.
But I don’t want the conversation to end here. Because we have to get to
the issue of affordability and we have to make sure that we’re not
constantly having a conversation every few years as to whether this is the
step that the government should take."

Rep. Teresa Leger Fernandez (NM-03) said "This student loan relief is a
good first step to easing the financial burden of hard working New
Mexicans carrying high student loan debt. Education shouldn’t be a burden;
no one should struggle with crushing debt to get a quality education. We
need to make education accessible to everyone, everywhere."

Rep. Sean Casten (IL-06) said "That is, in essence what Biden's plan has
done by providing relief to lower-income Americans, with even more to
those who qualified for Pell grants. It's good human policy, and it's also
good fiscal policy. And I get it. The @GOP has all been given their
talking points, and they're going to keep repeating fiscal drivel.
Polemicists gonna polem. But if you care about fiscal policy, you should
be proud of what just happened."

Rep. Lauren Underwood (IL-14) said "Student borrowers will receive relief
thanks to @POTUS’ decision to cancel up to $20,000 of federal student
debt! Student debt is keeping too many Americans from thriving, and this
announcement will bring financial security to tens of millions of
Americans."

Rep. Jahana Hayes (CT-05) said "Thank you @POTUS for delivering student
debt relief to Americans most in need. This will have a lasting impact on
the residents of Connecticut. I will continue to work with the
Administration to decrease the burden of student loan debt and make
college more affordable."

Rep. Bill Foster (IL-11) said "Student debt is a serious economic burden
for far too many Americans. I applaud the action taken by @POTUS today to
provide much-needed breathing room for student loan borrowers."

Rep. David Trone (MD-06) said "Today, @POTUS announced new measures to
ease student debt of borrowers making less than $125,000/year. Eligible
borrowers will receive up to $20,000 in debt cancellation, & @usedgov will
make paying off the remainder of loans more manageable."

Even Rep. Henry Cuellar (TX-28), who often comes down on the wrong side of
issues said, "Today’s announcement...acknowledges that an education is as
vital as our most basic necessities. And it puts hardworking South Texans
first -- making sure that anyone making less than $125k finds fed debt
relief.”

So, it doesn't look like Dems are that divided after all. What do you say
we celebrate this big victory and go WIN SOME ELECTIONS.
