Dear John,

The winter is an especially harsh time of year for Happy the elephant. As you read this, the Bronx Zoo is holding her in an industrial cement structure lined with windowless, barred cages while the elephant exhibit is closed until the spring. The NhRP has been working to give her a new life in a sanctuary because she doesn’t deserve to live this way: alone, with no choice, in an environment that cannot meet her physical and emotional needs as an elephant.

Your year-end gift of $35, $50 or $100 today can help us continue to fight for her freedom.

Your donation means we can continue to represent Happy in the courtroom, just as we would any other autonomous being who is being denied their fundamental right to live freely.

Your donation also goes toward holding rallies, making public appearances, attending speaking opportunities and rolling out other strategic initiatives to educate government officials as well as members of communities who might not be aware of Happy’s plight or the plight of other elephants imprisoned around the country, all deserving of freedom and peace.

Can you help us to shift the legal status quo for Happy and other nonhuman animals? Your donation will directly fuel the NhRP’s efforts to win actual legal rights for members of other species.

Thank you for your support for Happy and the NhRP throughout 2019. It is because of compassionate supporters like you that we were able to bring to bear all the resources necessary to argue inside and outside the courtroom for recognition of the rights of nonhuman animals, including two oral arguments and two rallies on Happy’s behalf with a third court date set for January. Your gift today will help us to continue our work seamlessly into the new year.

Please join us today to help us create a more just world for all.
