Dear John,

This year we welcomed a new class of 39 physicians into our Leadership Training Academy, joining our network of nearly 400 physician advocates nationwide.

In these challenging times with so much on the line, I’m proud to work alongside them and people like you who are using your time and your resources to fight the injustices we hear about and often see first-hand every day.

We asked a few of our new physician fellows what issues especially motivated their advocacy. Here’s what they had to say:

Meet Our Advocates

Dr. Allison David [[link removed]]

"I'm most concerned about the fear women of color experience when they come to a hospital. Whether it’s for the happiest or scariest time of their lives, women deserve respect, time and attention to detail… I realize how vital it is for women of color to have women of color taking care of them.”

Dr. Elise Boos
“The current administration’s treatment of refugees and asylum seekers, especially those from Central and South America, motivates me to be an advocate. The separation of families at the Southwest border–specifically the treatment of women and children–has fueled in me a desire to care for immigrants."

Dr. Katherine Brown [[link removed]]

"I am motivated to fight for reproductive justice. To me, this means fighting for abortion access along with fighting for dignified and safe prenatal care and birth, fighting for the right to parenthood, and fighting for the right of bodily autonomy and safety. This means fighting systemic injustices including police brutality, mass incarceration, and family separation.”

You can get to know more of our fellows through our Meet Our Advocates [[link removed]] series. I look forward to sharing with you how these physicians are using their advocacy training and passion for justice to advance reproductive health care.

Sincerely,
