Husted Announces TechCred Results for July
Businesses can begin applying for next round September 1st
(COLUMBUS, Ohio)?Ohio Lt. Governor Jon Husted, who serves as Director of the Governor?s Office of Workforce Transformation, today announced the results of July?s?round of TechCred in which 348 employers were approved for funding, providing the opportunity for?Ohioans to earn 3,855 tech-focused credentials.?This most recent round marks the 15th application period of the program with manufacturing and construction topping the list of industries applying for tech-infused credentials.?
In July, Lt. Governor Husted announced that TechCred officially reached and exceeded the goal set in the state budget to fund 20,000 industry-recognized, tech-based credentials each year.?
?TechCred has proven its importance to Ohio businesses and their employees, especially as we continue to see the program grow and be successful,? said Lt. Governor Husted. ?Giving Ohioans the opportunity to upskill or reskill themselves is vital to our economy and workforce.?
?These awards show the DeWine-Husted Administration?s continued focus on building Ohio?s workforce,? said Lydia Mihalik, Director of the Ohio Department of Development. ?To keep Ohio moving forward, we need a highly skilled workforce, resulting in better pay for workers and increased productivity for businesses.?
With the approvals announced today, a total of?1,958 Ohio employers?have been approved for funding through the TechCred program, supporting the?earning of 48,632 tech-focused credentials by employees.
?The TechCred program has made it possible for nearly 2,000 Ohio employers to thrive with a workforce that keeps up with changes in technology,? said Ohio Department of Higher Education Chancellor Randy Gardner. ?These thousands of tech-focused credentials help keep our businesses ? and our state ? moving forward.?
The current TechCred application period opens on September 1st and will close on Friday, September 30th at 3:00 p.m. Businesses with employees who have completed their approved TechCred training should complete the reimbursement process at TechCred.Ohio.gov.
