Dear John,

Reproductive justice, including the right to safe abortions, is at the heart of our goal to win full gender equity. This work is urgent and we must focus on what can be done right now.

 We must get out the vote and educate ourselves and others about local policies.

We must have courageous conversations about gender equity and about the intersections and connections between the right to have an abortion and the ability to live fully, freely, and safely no matter who you are, how you identify, or where you live. 

And we must support those who are central to the fight on the ground like Dr. Shalon’s Maternal Action Project, the Southern Birth Justice Network, Birth in Color RVA, and hundreds more organizations achieving real progress.

This we believe: Every person has the right to choose if and when to parent. Access to abortion is a fundamental human right, and control over women’s bodies is no one’s but their own. This is not, and has never been, solely a women’s issue. We will never get to full equality if any person does not have full bodily autonomy.
