It is pretty staggering that last week, on the same day that the President of the United States paid a $2 million settlement for abusing his charity, the House of Representatives introduced articles of impeachment for even more egregious misconduct.

But President Trump isn’t the only one who has been up to no good recently. There’s more than enough corruption to go around…

Counselor to the President Kellyanne Conway blew past 50 violations of the Hatch Act on Twitter just in the last year alone. CMS Administrator Seema Verma tried to have taxpayers reimburse her for $43,065 in stolen jewelry (including an Ivanka Trump necklace). Acting White House Chief of Staff Mick Mulvaney wore a Space Force hat leaving Air Force One, which could also be a violation of the Hatch Act, since the hat was actually a Trump campaign hat. Secretary of Transportation Elaine Chao has several of conflicts of interest, like favoritism for grants going to Kentucky, the state represented by her husband, Senator Mitch McConnell.

We have also seen Members of Congress aid Trump’s corruption, even as he is being impeached. According to a new CREW report, 50 members have visited Trump’s properties in just the three months since the impeachment inquiry began. Many of these visits are to attend fundraisers, which are extremely convenient for Trump, as he makes money from his congressional defenders and those seeking to influence them. Events like this also tend to coincide with massive spikes in the cost of rooms at Trump’s DC hotel. Go figure.

With impeachment taking up so much of the news these days, it’s more than understandable if you have not stayed up-to-date on all these stories of corruption. But to protect our democracy, we need to fight back against each and every episode of profiteering, not just the ones in the news the most.

If you can, donate now to support CREW’s fight against all instances of corruption, both the most shocking ones and the ones that fly under the radar.

Thank you for standing with us,

The CREW Team
