This past year Republicans have made strides in restoring common sense law and order in the Commonwealth. We at the Republican Party of Virginia want to highlight the fantastic work our Delegates and Senators in the General Assembly were able to accomplish this past session.

Today’s spotlight is on Senator Emmett Hanger, Jr. Senator Hanger carried SB 649 ( [link removed] ) this past session which changed the Virginia Code in regard to violent crime reporting in our High Schools. Previously if a minor was charged with a violent crime, the Chief of Police or Chief Law Enforcement Officer was not required to notify the school administration. This law changes that to be mandatory.

Thanks to Senator Hanger, our students and children will be safe in their school systems, and the Commonwealth will be more equipped to handle these types of situations in schools.
