Let’s Go To the Video!

As a former journalist, I sympathize with local media’s struggles to sustain themselves in the digital age. A healthy and questioning local media is vital to the proper functioning of democracy by holding the powerful accountable and informing the public of basic information.

But to read the Sac Bee or watch local TV news, you’d never know our district’s March 3rd Congressional primary will provide CA-7 voters their first choice of Democrats in 22 years. Pretty historic stuff. More typical was the coverage of ABC 10 earlier this month. They interviewed my opponent Ami Bera and posted a 15-minute online version with no mention of the March 3rd primary.

Fortunately voters aren’t dependent on these outlets to learn about the sharp contrasts between my campaign and Bera’s unimpressive record in Congress. More than a dozen videos are posted at BurdickForCongress.com – including my most recent one detailing Bera's record as one of the least active and least influential members of Congress. Check it out, and spread awareness of our campaign by sharing these videos on your social media accounts.

Coming Soon: Health Care Fear-Mongering

News reports have begun appearing like this one in Politico warning that the rich medical and insurance industries are about to unleash an expensive avalanche of fear-mongering about Medicare for All. These groups will spend hundreds of millions of dollars this election cycle to protect their windfall profits and prevent a lowering of medical costs or improving the health of Americans. 

But opposing these self-interested forces (and the politicians they sponsor) are individuals like myself who favor Medicare for All without any financial benefits. 

It’s purely about principles (health care as a human right), lowering costs for Americans, and improving our health outcomes. Meanwhile, Ami Bera freely offers at his Town Hall Meetings that he was against Obamacare, supports no practical approach toward universal health care, and has been one of the largest recipients of donations from the corporate health care industry:

So who is more worth your trust? The politician lavishly sponsored by Big Pharma and Big Medicine? Or the can’t-be-bought candidate simply running to represent the best interests of us voters? On March 3rd, make that choice loud and clear at the ballot box.
