John,
Here are just a few of the Working Families Party candidates your support will help us elect in November — and why your contribution today is so important:
Mandela Barnes
U.S. Senate, Wisconsin
In Wisconsin, WFP candidate Mandela Barnes will take on one of the Republican Party’s most vulnerable Senators, Ron Johnson. Mandela’s upbringing and experience as a community organizer led him to political life and his current role fighting for all Wisconsinites as Lt. Governor. Growing up in one of the most impoverished neighborhoods in Wisconsin, Mandela witnessed firsthand the impact his parents’ union jobs had on their situation. Since then, he’s dedicated his life to addressing the issues affecting working people and the middle class.
Instead of lining the pockets of billionaires, Mandela would support legislation to create good jobs, address climate change, expand access to high-quality, affordable childcare, and more.
A victory for Mandela would bring us closer to gaining the Senate seats we need to end the filibuster, codify abortion rights into law, and move our people’s agenda through Congress.
Help defeat Ron Johnson and elect a WFP champion in his place, chip in $3 or more today before our end-of-month deadline.
Michelle Vallejo
U.S. Congress, TX-15
In response to the Trump administration’s “zero tolerance” immigration policy, Michelle Vallejo worked as an oral historian to transcribe emotional interviews of parents and children separated at the border. These narratives informed the current administration’s task force on reuniting separated families.
But her commitment to her South Texas community takes many forms — as a small business owner, community leader, and descendant of immigrants and farm workers, and entrepreneurs.
Years of engagement have distilled her approach: build stronger, healthier communities by uplifting the working class and amplifying the voices of underrepresented people.
In her May primary, Michelle faced off against well-funded corporate Democratic opponents, and won. The support of her community made a huge impact.
Jamie McLeod-Skinner
U.S. Congress, OR-5
Jamie McLeod-Skinner has focused her career on enhancing communities and protecting our natural resources. She has helped rebuild war-torn schools and hospitals abroad, developed affordable housing, and secured millions in aid after wildfires devastated Oregon.
Jamie sees this moment of crisis for our environment, our democracy, and our economy as an opportunity to rebuild stronger. Through environmental action, campaign finance reform, and smart investments — Jamie is ready to lead Oregon to a brighter future.
With your help, the Working Families Party was able to help her defeat Big Pharma-backed Kurt Schrader in her primary in May. But this seat remains a “toss-up” in November according to many pundits.
Help us reach even more voters and power Jamie and other WFP candidates like her to victory in November with a donation of $3.
If we’re going to elect all of these people’s champions — and more — in November, we need to prepare now. That means hitting our online fundraising goals each month from here on out.
