Hello John,

“Conservatives sense that modern people are dwarfs on the shoulders of giants, able to see farther than their ancestors only because of the great stature of those who have preceded us.”

- Russell Kirk
You don’t hear much about tradition these days. Everyone is too busy attacking the generations that came before us.

But we know we owe those who came before us a great debt, which is why ISI hosts our annual Gala for Western Civilization ([link removed]) .

Join us Thursday, October 13, at the historic Willard InterContinental Hotel in Washington, D.C.

With ISI friends and supporters, we’ll recognize the leaders, thinkers, and students who are fighting to preserve the Western tradition.

And if you’re an ISI alum under 30, registration is only $50!

At the Gala, you’ll hear:
* Chair of the Department of History at the University of Dallas, Susan Hanssen, who will give the keynote address
* The William R. Kenan, Jr., Professor of Government at Harvard University, Harvey C. Mansfield, who will receive ISI’s Charles H. Hoeflich Lifetime Achievement Award
* Merton P. Stoltz Professor of Economics at Brown University, Glenn Loury, who will receive ISI’s Faculty Award
