I wanted to make sure you saw this note from Joe, friend — we’re still expanding our reach and keeping our promise to support organizers on the ground in ‘red’ states Democrats have too often written off. In fact, we’re taking applications and preparing another round of grants as we speak.
If we’re going to hit our goal we still need $12,843 in the bank before tomorrow at midnight, will you help us get there? Chip in now:

Let's do things differently,

Begin forwarded message:
Hi there — for decades, conservatives have steadily invested in building local power. They have methodically created a system where legislation can pass in one state and quickly impact policy across the entire nation.
Combatting the powerful infrastructure they have created is going to take time, dedication, and lots of intention. Luckily, we have the strongest leaders in this work with our partner organizations and grantees. They have put in the long hours and have a thorough understanding of the political landscape in their communities – I’m confident that together, we can turn the tide.
We are collecting applications to make another round of grants and need your help. Every line item in our budget was placed there with intention. A donation of any amount goes a long way.
To prove that, we took some time to outline a few things below:
$35 covers the cost of one month of our virtual streaming softwareStaying connected in real time to our partner states and organizations is a key component of our work at GWP, especially in a COVID world. Our streaming software also allows us to shine a spotlight on our grantees through features like our Groundwork TV series, and partner Facebook live events. This technology is essential to our work so we can continue funneling attention and resources to organizers on the ground.
$125 helps our team keep our website up to dateIt costs $125 every time we update our website to highlight new grantees (and we are doing that a lot!). We just opened up our next round of applications for grants so we want to be prepared to get our partner organizations, their story, and information onto the website as soon as they are selected!
$500 covers our entry level mini-grantOur mini-grants sponsor organizations on the ground needing an extra lift to get a program or event up and running. These grants fund anything and everything from educational events to outreach and advocacy – all are built with the specific community in mind, hosted by local organizers, and turn an idea into action.
$1,000 helps send a member of the Groundwork team to one of our partner statesThere’s nothing as effective as being there in-person to see what’s happening, meet with partners and local officials, and collaborate face-to-face on the issues at the community level. We always look forward to sending a team member to a partner state because we know great things will develop from the trip!
$5,000 sponsors one young leader to attend our eight-week Youth Organizing Fellowship program! At Groundwork, we know it is important to not just welcome young people into the fold, we need to offer paid opportunities to remove the barrier of economic constraint. Your gift of $5,000 allows us to offer a fellowship and work towards building an organizing workforce that is diverse and well-trained.
Our mission is not about one candidate, campaign, or election, Groundwork is here for the long haul; establishing strategic, multi-year investments in states where democracy and civil rights are most threatened. My team and I have reviewed our budget carefully and we need to raise another $20,000 by tomorrow at midnight to stay on track.
Friend, can I count on your support? Chip in now.
Thanks so much,
Joe
