Friends – We’re supporting some incredible Veterans with
scientific backgrounds in the races that will decide control of the House
AND the Senate.
Year in and year out polling confirms two things: Americans overwhelmingly
trust and support, across political lines, STEM professionals like doctors
and engineers as well as servicemembers of the U.S. military, like fighter
pilots and military medics.
Republicans only need to flip five seats to win control of the House and
the Senate. That’s why we wanted to share with you the stories of five of
our incredible Democratic scientists who served our country and are now
running for office in five key races that will determine control of
Congress.

[ Captain ]Captain Mark KellyMark Kelly (AZ-Senate) - Captain Mark Kelly is a
retired U.S. Navy combat pilot, engineer and NASA astronaut, and Senator
for Arizona.
As a Senator, Mark has championed gun safety legislation and has been
fearlessly pro-choice and pro-science since day one. His opponent, Blake
Masters, is a Trump-endorsed extremist that supports a national ban on
abortions, believes that same-sex marriage is “Pointless,” and wants to
privatize social security.
Mark Kelly is considered one of the most vulnerable Democratic Senators in
the 2022 election. And if the election were held today, polling shows
Republicans would DEFEAT Mark Kelly and flip the Senate to GOP control.

[ Admiral ]Admiral Mike FrankenMike Franken (IA-Senate) – Mike Franken is a former
U.S. Navy Admiral with a background in physics and engineering running
against career politician Sen. Chuck Grassley.
If elected, Mike Franken would be the most senior military professional
ever elected to the Senate. And since he launched his campaign, he’s
proven his ability to win by closing a 10+ point gap against Grassley into
a historic virtual tie.
This is the CLOSEST any Democrat has come to unseating Chuck Grassley in
his 40-year Senate career and 60-year career in elected office as a career
politician. With our continued support, Mike Franken could win this race
which would guarantee Democratic control of the Senate.

[ Commander ]Commander Elaine LuriaElaine Luria (VA-02) – Elaine Luria served in the
U.S. Navy for 20 years as a nuclear engineer and reached the rank of
Commander. She made history as one of the first women to ever graduate
from the Navy Nuclear Power School and made history again as one of the
first women to spend her military service in combatant ships.
In the House Democratic Caucus, Elaine has served the longest on active
duty and despite representing a swing district, agreed to bring her
national security experience to be a member of the January 6 investigative
committee in Congress.
Recent news publications have listed Elaine as the most vulnerable
Democrat in the nation. She won a close race in 2018 and again in 2020,
and with your help, she’ll win again in 2022.

[ Captain ]Captain Chrissy HoulahanChrissy Houlahan (PA-06) – Chrissy Houlahan is
a third-generation military veteran, industrial engineer, and retired U.S.
Air Force Reserve Captain.
Chrissy uses her experience as a USAFR Captain, chemistry teacher in North
Philadelphia, and non-profit leader to lead with science in Congress and
is a key member of the Women in STEM Caucus.
Chrissy made history as the first woman ever to be elected to
Pennsylvania’s 6th district and her victory in this historically GOP-held
district helped Democrats flip the House in 2018.

[ Dr. ]Dr. Kermit JonesKermit Jones (CA-03) – Dr. Kermit Jones is a U.S. Navy
flight surgeon that deployed overseas to treat injured service members and
Iraqi civilians in combat zones. After Iraq, he served under President
Obama to improve the quality of care for veterans.
There currently isn’t a single Black doctor in the entire U.S. Congress
and there are only three pro-choice doctors in the House. If elected, Dr.
Kermit Jones would be one of the only Black doctors ever elected to
Federal office in history.
California’s 3rd Congressional District is an open Republican held seat
that many experts consider will be one of the most competitive House races
in the country.
