Dear Friend,

As we wrap up in 2019, and I reflect on the work we have done across Ohio, Alabama, Texas, Kansas, and Georgia, I am reminded of our greatest strength - our people. The creativity, engagement, and resilience of our members and staff continues to be URGE’s most valuable resource.

And none of this would be possible without your support! <[link removed]>

I want to tell you about Celia Valles. Celia is a new member of our San Antonio City Activist Network, URGE’s new off-campus chapters. Celia went canvassing for the first time and said this after:

One of the typical responses I was getting when asking people to sign my URGE petition is “I would but…” with the “but” usually including the shaming of people who find themselves with an unwanted pregnancy. This time, the response was, “but I don’t support late-term abortions.” Fortunately, because of conversations with my fellow canvassers and URGE training, I was able to initiate an informed chat. I let them know that...the phrase “late-term abortions” referred to a medically inaccurate misunderstanding of abortion care. That it was a term coined by conservatives to stigmatize further all people who ended a pregnancy. Ultimately, the conversation ended with me getting an additional signature, and with the signee gaining a better understanding of abortion.”

Help us build this liberated world. <[link removed]>

Change is happening one conversation at a time. And in the face of unending attacks, our people continue to show up with energy and ideas and a hunger for justice. Our people continue to believe that we WILL win, which pushes URGE to be and do better and more. We need your support to continue this work and keep having these transformative conversations.

Friend, with your gift of $20 today, you will be a part of young people building power, claiming the conversation, and leading the reproductive justice movement.
