There are so many aspects about my job in Congress that I love, but like any job, there are also parts I’d just as soon never do again.

I like the delivering-for-Maryland stuff, like lowering prescription drug costs, reducing carbon emissions, and protecting the Chesapeake. That’s hard work, but it’s fun hard work.

But I don’t like what I’m about to do next -- it’s my least favorite part of my job -- and that’s to ask you for money. Specifically, I’m asking if you can help us reach our $5,000 goal before the end of this month.

Why do I do it? Out of necessity, frankly. Elections are more expensive than ever, and that’s been true for a while now. Campaigns that don’t keep pace have a much harder time running a strong ground game, getting their messages out, and winning on Election Day.

In order to win elections today, campaigns can either receive a few big checks from wealthy mega-donors and special-interest groups or they can build a grassroots network of supporters -- like ours. For me, it’s an easy choice because I’ll always put Marylanders first in Congress – not special interests. 

But to put it plainly, if I’m going to win this November and continue delivering for Marylanders, I need your help.

Chip in whatever you can -- like $15, $20, or $50 -- and help us get ready for Election Day.
